Mail call! Have carried this new pack for a few days now and wanted to give some initial impressions through the Inside Line Equipment ASNMNT Mini Review.

I needed a smaller EDC as we now have lockers at work, and my MW Speedwell doesn’t fit with those cozy hip fins. Was looking for a heritage pack with extra water protection in rainy Pittsburgh, laptop access, water bottle + quick access pockets.

This is advertised as an 18l, but certainly feels like more. I loaded up with a maximal load of everything I might need, and there’s still room without getting into the extended rolltop. Because of how burly the waxed canvas/tarpaulin combo is, the bag holds it’s shape very well even when underpacked. The materials feel very good in hand, and I trust this backpack would keep things dry in a hurricane.

There are two identical slim pockets on the front of the pack which are separate, something I could not distinguish based on the website. With the laptop loaded these are pretty snug, but nice for my wallet, cable pouch, mask, and granola bars. Especially excited for pockets to patina beautifully like raw denim, showing outlines of regular carries.

The laptop sleeve is super plush! My 15″ Acer slid right in first try even with the bag loaded up. Really appreciate that this is a flap protecting rather than a zipper so there is no chance at all of getting wet.

The straps are wide and not overly squishy which I think feel good. Though a small detail, I really enjoy the d-rings at the end of the compression straps. They simply feel nice to grab, and makes the extra strap feel more aesthetic than excess. Also appreciate the black xpac on the underside of the Velcro, uh, buckle flap? Don’t know the official term for that piece, but it works. I do worry about the long term strength of Velcro, but I trust what they are doing over at ILE.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding this pack! I couldn’t find a single ASNMNT Mini review about it but took a leap on it anyway, and I’m glad I did. Carry on, friends!
